GeoGebra s a software package for creating and manipulating geometric objects. It also allows for graphing of functions and manipulating the functions in all sorts of interesting ways. Geogebra has all of the standard Geometry software functions. You can add lines, circles, ellipses and all other sorts of geometric functions to the document. You can also make one object a dependent of another object which means that changes in the original object propagate to its dependent objects. So in other words, if a you draw a line segment which depends on the location of point A and point B, changing either point A or point B modifies the line segment. TurtleArt lets you make images with your computer. The Turtle follows a sequence of commands. You specify the sequence by snapping together puzzle like blocks. The blocks can tell the turtle to draw lines and arcs, draw in different colors, go to a specific place on the screen, etc. There are also blocks that let you repeat or name sequences. Other blocks perform logical operations. The sequence of blocks as a program that describes an image. This kind of programming is inspired by the LOGO programming language. It was designed to be easy enough for children and yet powerful enough for people of all ages. TurtleArt is focused on making images while allowing you to explore geometry and programming. Learn the basics of computer programming with Daisy the Dinosaur! This free, fun app has an easy drag and drop interface that kids of all ages can use to animate Daisy to dance across the screen. Reading Bear, a project of WatchKnowLearn.org, is the first free program online to teach beginning readers vocabulary and concepts while systematically introducing all the main phonetic patterns of written English, all using innovative rich media. We spent an enormous amount of time developing 50 presentations, covering even more phonics principles and illustrating over 1,200 vocabulary items. There is nothing else like it, free or otherwise. How does it work? In each presentation—playable either as a video or as an interactive slide show—we introduce one or a few related “phonics rules.” Presentations are available in seven different versions. In the fullest version, we sound out a word slowly and quickly, then blend it slowly, and finally (after an optional prompt) blend it quickly. As sounds are pronounced, the corresponding letters are highlighted. Then we display a picture illustrating the word, show a sentence (with the individual sounds again highlighted, karaoke style), and finally show a video illustrating the sentence. Presentations give this treatment to around 25 words, though some have more and some have less. The result is a thorough yet painless introduction to phonics principles, while at the same time teaching vocabulary. There are many other features, which we encourage you to explore by clicking on our Getting Started page. Nearpod is a free iOS app that teachers can use to create quizzes, polls, and multimedia presentations. Those materials can be shared directly to students who have the Nearpod student app installed. Teachers can view students' responses individually or as a whole class. Nearpod could be a good tool for teachers to create and deliver customized content to their students. The feedback mechanisms may allow you to quickly get a sense of your students' comprehension of the lessons that you deliver. LearnZillion is a learning platform that combines video lessons, assessments, and progress reporting. Each lesson highlights a Common Core standard, starting with math in grades 3-9. We started LearnZillion at E.L. Haynes Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. because we wanted to solve a problem. We knew what lessons our students needed but we didn’t have enough time to teach each student the right lesson. To create more time, and to share best practices across classrooms, E.L. Haynes’ teachers began to capture their expertise on screencasts. We posted them on a homemade website and coupled them with a short quiz to help us track student progress. 2,000+ high quality lessons by top teachers - all built from the Common Core State Standards.
